We’ll have three ACT review sessions for the English portion of the exam. They’ll be in my room, with the doorway open at the end of the Social Studies hallway. Please try to arrive a few minutes early so we can began right away.

The times:

  • Thursday, 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, 12:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, 7:00 p.m.

As we progress through the unit, we’ll watch a few videos and clips, which will be collected here.

Your fourth essay, on birthright citizenship, is posted here for download.

It is due on Sunday at noon. Because this one requires some reading and outside research, make sure that you get started a bit before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Yesterday, we reviewed the concession, boomer, and caveat thesis, as well as the topic sentences that would accompany all three. You can find review material for those here.

Our first poet will be the inimitable “Uncle” Walt Whitman, whose Leaves of Grass remains one of the most read volumes of poetry ever written. While most of his poems will be in the packet, a few are the textbook and I have provided links here.
